For this necklace we referenced an ancient Roman coin that depicted an owl, the symbol of wisdom and a symbol of Athena, the patron Goddess of Athens. In art, she is generally depicted wearing a helmet and holding a spear and is associated with wisdom, handicraft, weaving and warfare. In Greek mythology, Athena was believed to have been born from the forehead of her father Zeus. In the founding myth of Athens, Athena bested Poseidon in a competition over patronage of the city by creating the first olive tree. Sterling silver plated in rhodium with a square Cubic Zirconia stone and three olive leaves at the bezel. 16" chain with extension.

This piece is one of a kind—it’s truly a work of art. It’s the perfect size & has so many intricate details that really add to the beauty of it. I bought this as a gift for my fiancee, but also plan to borrow from her so I can enjoy wearing it too. I love how delicate it is, yet it’s a piece with such power (for those of you who know your mythology, Athena is such a strong goddess). It couldn’t be more beautiful. I am so happy to have found Memento Mori & Jen herself —you can tell she puts so much time and love into her designs. She’s an absolute sweetheart to work with, and look forward to ordering much more from her!
